In beautiful condition here is a complete set of Familiar Garden Flowers by F Edward Hulme. Published in 1890 by Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co., London. In the extremely eye-catching original bindings and each with forty high-quality colour plates, so two hundred in total.

Extremely scarce together as a set in their original boards.

Frederick Edward Hulme is also well known for his Familiar Wild Flowers series which follows the same format of beautiful colour plate with tissue guard followed by a detailed description of each flower.

Inside the pages are in good condition with just the occasional bit of light scattered spotting. The tissue guards are almost all in good condition, with just a couple missing and with several having some small tears. They have some faint tanning but overall are very good. None of these volumes has been written in and all are gilt edged on all sides which has remained shiny bright.

In striking blue cloth covered boards with ornate black and gilt stamped decoration to the front and spine and blind stamped floral wreath to the back. The front boards all have an indented gold floral picture. These have rubbed a little but remain gorgeous. The boards are all excellent for their age and have very little sign of wear. The spines have faded just a very little in comparison to the fronts but remain wonderful together as a set on display.
