1889 Wuthering Heights and Agnes Grey by Emily and Anne Bronte / Smith, Elder & Co., London / Early Antique Pocket-Sized Hardback

Here is an antique, pocket-sized copy of two Bronte novels in one volume: Wuthering Heights by Emily plus Agnes Grey by Anne. Published in 1889 by Smith, Elder & Co., London. This copy is 136 years old. Pocket-sized-see dimensions below.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with just the very occasional brown spot and creased corner. Has some tanning to the endpapers. The main CONDITION POINT to note is it cracks open at the hinges, front and back, to reveal webbing and give the boards a wobble, but the binding of the text block is very good and strong. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. Has some toning along the closed top edge.

In green marbled papered boards with a green cloth spine, and black title plate with gilt titles. Has some rubbing around the edges of the boards where the paper has chipped away in places to reveal boards beneath. With some light scuffing to the boards, and a small bump on the rear board at the bottom. Dark green cloth covered spine has a black title plate and gilt titles. Has just some very slight rubbing to the cloth on the spine ends, otherwise unfaded and in good order.
