1889 The Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith / John C Nimmo, London / 114 Colour Illustrations / Lovely Binding / Gilt Edged Pages

Here is a lovely antique copy of The Vicar of Wakefield by Oliver Goldsmith. Published in 1889, making it 135 years old. Fairly large format, in a nice binding. Has 114 colour illustrations and gilt edged pages.

Inside the pages are tightly bound. There is spotting to the endpapers and then sporadically through the text and to the edges. Some pages have quite a lot of spotting, others none at all. With the occasional dark mark. Has an inked name on the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The illustrations are absolutely delightful (see photos). Gilt edged on all sides. 

Grey cloth covered boards have dark red and gilt decoration to the front, back and spine. With gilt titles and bevelled edges. The front and rear board are in top order with just a little rubbing to the corners. The gilt titles on the front are sparkly bright. The spine has tanned in comparison to the front, the decoration and titles have dulled but can still be discerned. Has a few small splits in the cloth at the top.
