1881 The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan - Illustrated Antique Book

Here is a beautiful antique copy of The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. Published in 1881 by Bickers & Son, London. With twelve wonderful black and white photographic reproductions of T Stothard engravings (see photos). Contents are excellent, with some wear to the blue cloth - detailed below.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. Has an inked inscription to the verso of the front free endpaper, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Mild spotting to tissue guard. All edges are shiny gilt.

Dark-blue cloth backed boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. Has rubbing to the cloth on the corners to reveal boards beneath (see photos). Wear also to the cloth on the spine, with a small hole on the back spine joint. A little loss to the cloth on the spine tail, and more so to the head of the spine. A little light scuffing to the cloth on the back. The beautiful gilt to front and spine remains shiny bright, and this is an eye-catching book.
