1880s Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan / Beautifully Decorative / Richly Illustrated / In Excellent Condition / Shiny Gilt Edged Pages

In excellent condition, here is a beautiful edition of The Pilgrim's Progress by John Bunyan. Undated but would have been published in the late 1880s by Cassell Petter & Galpin, London. In gorgeous decorative boards and with black and white illustrations throughout. Large format.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. With just the occasional brown blemish - but minor. Has an inked name at the top of an early page (see photos), and pencil name at the top of the title page, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. The multiple illustrations are striking and really bring the book to life. All edges are shiny gilt.

Deep maroon red cloth covered boards have ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine, and blind stamping to the rear. Again in top order. Bevelled edges. The front board is absolutely beautiful, with no condition points to note at all. There are a couple of small white marks on the back board. The maroon red of the spine has faded a good deal in comparison to the front and back, but the gilt remains sparkly bright and this is an extremely eye-catching book to display.
