1878 The Amateur's Flower Garden by Hibberd- Antique - Illustrated

In very good condition, here is a super antique copy of The Amateur's Flower Garden - A Handy Guide to the Formation and Management of the Flower Garden and The Cultivation of Garden Flowers, by Shirley Hibberd. Published in 1878 by Groombridge & Sons, London. Richly illustrated with six colour plates (three fold-outs), plus numerous drawings, diagrams and plans.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with just the occasional brown blemish. Has a bookplate on the front paste down and two inscriptions opposite on the front free endpaper (see photos). Gapes at the gutter in several places but the binding remains good and strong. All of the plates are in good condition.

Dark green cloth over boards have ornate gilt and black decoration to the front and spine, and blind decoration to the back. Bevelled edges. All again in top order. Just some slight rubbing to the spine, and there looks to have been a little repair to the spine ends, but minor. The gilt remains bright, and this is an attractive book - square and tidy.
