In very good condition, here is a lovely antique copy of Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. Undated, but with an inscription from 1912. Published by Collins Clear-Type Press, London. With a colour frontispiece, and two super double-page colour illustrations (see photos).

The Tales are a beloved collection of adaptations that makes the works of William Shakespeare more accessible and enjoyable, especially for younger readers. Re-telling some of Shakespeare's most famous plays in prose form, simplifying the complex language while preserving the essence and charm of the original stories.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Has the above-mentioned inked inscription on the front free endpaper dated Nov 8th 1912, but no other writing or markings of previous ownership. Has one small closed tear to the fore-edge of a page near the end.

Dark red cloth covered boards have decoration to the front and spine, and gilt titles. Also in top order, with just some very slight rubbing to the edges - but minor. The gilt is shiny bright.
