In lovely decorative boards, here is an antique copy of The Old, Old Fairy Tales collected by Mrs Valentine. Undated, but would have been published by Frederick Warne & Co., London in the early 1890s.

Contains 43 tales by Perrault, Madame D'Aulnoy and others. With Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, Jack and the Beanstalk and Cinderella amongst them.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. There is tanning and a good deal of spotting to the closed outside edges, with a stain on the bottom edge. Has a closed tear to one page (see photos). This copy has not been written in, and there are no other markings of previous ownership. With a black and white illustrated frontispiece, else unillustrated.

Striking brown cloth covered boards have blind stripes and decoration to the front and spine, with gilt titles. Clean, bright and un-faded. With some rubbing to the cloth around the outside edges, corners and spine ends. The gilt has remained shiny bright, and this is an eye-catching copy.
