An extremely scarce and beautiful luxury set of The Complete Novels of Jane Austen in five volumes. In very good condition. Between 1968 and 1977 Heron Books of London produced the set of Austen's works as a tribute to the author. Bound in cyan blue real lambskin leather, ornately embellished with 23ct gold detailing to spines, covers and all page edges. The volumes open onto pale blue silk moiré endpapers. This edition has pale blue book ribbon markers and black and white illustrations by different artists in each volume (see photos).

The novels are: Sense and Sensibility; Pride and Prejudice; Mansfield Park; Emma, with Northanger Abbey and Persuasion being bound together in one volume. This represents a complete collection of all six of Austen's finished novels.

Inside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound. They have never been written in and internally there are no other stamps, marks or signs of previous ownership. With a couple of nicks and creases to the fore-edge of the first few pages of Pride and Prejudice. The books have gold on all three edges which is bright and sparkly - with a few light scuffs. The pale blue silk endpapers are also beautiful and unmarked (see photos).

The stunning leather covers are superb. They are un-faded and all of the gold decoration remains sparkly bright. With some light wear to the bottom corner of Mansfield Park (see photos). The front boards have ornate gold decoration and the rear boards are plain blue leather.

The spines are delightful with slightly raised bands and compartments. There is elaborate gold work here and also white kid leather title and author plates. The set looks wonderful on display.
