c1900s The Silver Fairy Book / Scarce Antique Hardback Book / Hutchinson & Co., London / Richly Illustrated in Colour and Line

Here is an antique hardback copy of The Silver Fairy Book, Comprising Stories by Voltaire; Sarah Bernhardt; Moreau; Horace Murreigh; Wilhelm Hauf; EP Larken; Xavier Marmier; Emile de Girardin; Louis de Gramont; Quatrelles. Undated but would have been published in the early 1900s by Hutchinson & Co., London. With eight colour plates by Norman Little plus eighty-three line drawings by HR Millar. Contents in very good condition, with a few condition points with the boards, but remains a good copy.

Contents: A Christmas Story (Bernhardt); The Iron Casket (From the German); The White Mouse (Moreau); The Unicorn (Larken); The Bird-Cage Maker (From the Spanish); The Two Genies (Voltaire); The Land of Youth (Scandinavian); The Stone Breaker (Quatrelles); The Golden Bees of Mythia (Murreigh); The Palace of Vanity (de Girardin); The Three Golden Hairs of Old Vsevede (From the Servian); Fatma (Hauf); The Golden Spinning-Wheel (Marmier); The Ship That Could Sail Over Land and Sea (German): The Vizier and the Fly (de Gramont).

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with tanning to the endpapers and spotting to the closed outside edges. Has an inked inscription on the front paste down, plus opposite on the front free endpaper. Has a few small nicks to the bottom edge.

Bright red cloth covered boards have a paste down to the front, and silver titles to the spine. The red has faded around the outside edges and on the spine. With a couple of faint dark marks to the top of the front board, and a small hole in the paste down illustration. The silver has rubbed away from the titles in a few places.
