1933 Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte / Daily Express Publications, London / With Illustrations / Vintage Bronte Book / In Good Condition

In good condition here is a lovely vintage edition of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, published by Daily Express Publications, London in 1933. This copy has some additional extras to the novel. It opens with a portrait of Charlotte Bronte by George Richmond as a frontispiece. Then there is a Foreword "Charlotte Bronte-The Woman and Her Book" by Wilfred Partington. The original Preface by Currer Bell (Bronte's pseudonym) from 1847 is reprinted and there are also five illustrations of the locations of the story (see photos) by EM Wimperis.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound, with a few folded corner tips. With a Bronte bookplate on the front free endpaper but no other markers of previous ownership. has a cracked hinge at the front and back, but in no way effecting the binding of the text block which is good and strong.

The black boards have the feel of an earlier Edwardian era about them. There is a blind-stamped winged horse motif on the front cover. With shiny gilt titles and winged horse on the spine. Has a little rubbing to the cloth on the corner tips. With a couple of slight bumps on the back, and a crease to the spine. Overall clean, smart and with shiny gilt titles.
