Here is a lovely antique copy of Half Hours in Air and Sky - Marvels of the Universe. Published in 1899 by James Nisbet & Co., London. Richly illustrated throughout in black and white. Gilt edged on all sides. This copy is 126 years old and so inevitably has a little wear (detailed below), but remains a super book.

The Half-Hour Library of Travel, Nature and Science is referred to at the top of the title page as being for Young Readers, but the books are filled with information and today we would deem the books equally suited for adult readers.

Contents: Winds and Storms; Among the Clouds; Rain; Frost and Snow; Electricity; A Journey Through Space; The Sun; The Moon; Planets and Comets; Light; Meteoric Showers etc.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound. Opens onto floral endpapers and the front paste down has a bookplate in the top corner. With scattered spotting to the edges and sporadically through the text, and a few dark handling marks. All edges are shiny gilt.

Navy blue cloth covered boards have attractive black and gilt decoration to the front and spine. With a small bump to the top front edge and a faded area at the bottom (see final photo). Has some light scuffs and a few faint marks to the boards but the gilt decoration remains shiny bright. With some rubbing of the cloth on the corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips. The spine has dulled a bit in comparison to the front and there is some rubbing to the cloth at the spine ends with a few small splits. The gilt on the spine also remains bright and so despite a little wear, this remains an attractive antique volume.
