In very good condition, here is a beautiful antique copy of Wessex - Painted by Walter Tyndale and Described by Clive Holland. Published in 1912 by Adam & Charles Black, London. With 75 super colour plates, a folding-map and lovely decorative boards. Condition in detail below.

The area known as Wessex covers parts of Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Bristol, The Isle of White and the Channels Islands.

Contents: Wessex in British, Roman and Norman Times; Wessex in Medieval, Stuart and Georgian Times; Some Towns of East Wessex; Some Towns of South Wessex; Some Towns of North Wessex; A Group of Outer Wessex Towns; The Capital of Wessex, Its History and Romance; The Story of a Famous Wessex Stronghold; The Story of Bath and Winchester; The Four Seasons in Wessex; A Famous Fair and Some Wessex Types; Some Lesser Towns and Villages of Thomas Hardy's Novels.

Inside the pages are clean and tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. Has a fair amount of spotting to the early pages and then scattered sporadically through the text. All 75 colour plates are present as called for, with their captioned tissue-guards. The folding-map is still present and in good condition. The top closed edge is gilt, with spotting to the other two sides.

Emerald-green cloth covered boards have a pale-gold, light-green and gilt design, and gilt titles. Again in very good order. Has some rubbing and a little chipping to the head of the spine. With a faint white mark across the bottom of the spine. Has just a few very faint white marks on the plain rear board, but minor. The gilt titles are bright, and this is a very attractive book.
