1880s Christmas Books by Charles Dickens / Leather Binding / Five Christmas Novellas / Illustrated / Includes A Christmas Carol

In good condition, here is a lovely leather bound antique version of Charles Dickens' five Christmas books. Undated but would have been published in the 1880s by Chapman and Hall, London. With twelve black and white illustrations.

The five books are: A Christmas Carol; The Chimes; The Cricket and the Hearth; The Battle of Life and The Haunted Man. 

Inside the pages are tightly bound, with marbled edges. There is spotting scattered sporadically through the text and also around the page edges. This copy has not been written in and there are no other markings of previous ownership. All of the twelve black and white illustrations are present and in good condition.

In a dark brown leather binding with marbled papered sides. There is rubbing and some light scratches to the surface of the marbled paper. The brown leather spine has five raised bands and ornate gilt decoration. There is rubbing to the leather at corners and spine ends (see close-up photo), otherwise very good with shiny gilt. Looking eye-catching on the bookshelf.
