Christmas Carols New and Old, undated but research shows it to have been published in the 1890s by Novello and Company Ltd of London. A lovely Victorian antique book of the words and music to seventy carols. This copy is around 130 years old and so inevitably has some SIGNS OF AGE, detailed below, but the colour scheme and decoration are evocative of a Victorian Christmas and this book is so much nicer to hold and sing from than a printed sheet of paper.

Inside there is a musical score with words on every page. Has a name at the top of the title page and the occasional small pencil mark in the main book. The main condition point to note with the contents is a brown tape mark to to the front hinge next to the title page (see close-up photo). The binding remains good and strong. All edges are gilt.

Dark green cloth covered boards with bevelled edges have a gilt stamped central vignette and with black decorative borders to the front and back. Has some rubbing to the cloth at corners to reveal boards beneath at the tips. Rubbing also to the spine ends. Has some scuffing to the green on the front top right, and a slight split to the surface cloth rear hinge.
