Condition in detail below.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs mentioned above, the main condition point to note is that the upper board is completely detached. Lower board still firmly attached. The text block is very good. Clean and tightly bound. With the occasional folded corner, nicked and creased edge. A couple of pencil notes in the margins. Scattered tanning and spotting. Has a copperplate engraved portrait frontispiece plus title page, plus five further copperplate illustrations. These have a good deal of tanning and spotting as do their neighbouring pages. Opens with a 38-page Memoir of Goldsmith. Has some elegantly-inked inscriptions to the front free endpaper.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFull calf-leather. Rubbed and scuffed, with rubbing in particular at the corners to reveal boards beneath. Blind stamped bands to spine, with black leather title plate and gilt titles. Loss to the leather at the top and heavy rubbing to the foot of the spine.
