1908 The Book of Princes and Princesses by Mrs Lang / First Edition, Longmans Green & Co., London / Beautifully Illustrated Antique Book

Here is a lovely antique copy of The Book of Princes and Princesses by Mrs Lang. Being a first edition published in 1908 by Longmans, Green & Co., London. In the matching style to her husband-(Andrew Lang's) coloured Fairy Books series. With beautiful binding and richly illustrated, drawing on real stories from history. These are fourteen historical stories about European royalty.

Inside the pages have scattered dark handling marks and brown spots/blemishes, otherwise tightly bound with no writing or inscriptions. All of the eight colour plates and nine black and white plates are present as called for in addition to numerous illustrations in the text. All in good condition. The frontispiece still has the original tissue guard in place (this has some tanning). The gilt on all three sides has remained shiny and bright, with some scuffs.

In delightful dark blue cloth covered boards with ornate gilt decoration to the front and spine. Has rubbing to the cloth on the corners to reveal boards at the tips, and to the spine ends. With some small splits in the cloth at the spine head and tail. The blue on the spine has faded a bit in comparison with the front and back. The blue and gilt on the front have remained very bright.
