His work stood at the absolute forefront of literature driving the Victorian fern craze. The book was so culturally significant that an 1862 edition was housed in the Royal Library at Windsor Castle, frequently consulted by Victorian elites.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eInside the pages are clean, bright and tightly bound, with scattered spotting. Has an inked prize inscription on the front free endpaper, and a stamped name on the opposite front paste-down. The superb colour plates at the back of the book have some spotting. All edges are gilt.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eDark-green cloth over boards have gilt and black decoration to the front and spine, and blind-stamping to the lower, bottom panel. Bevelled edges. Some mild rubbing to the corners and spine ends. The spine cloth has darkened a little over time.
